Set in the wet season of Northern Australia, this is a time when the whole landscape can come vibrantly to life after the big rains. The story follows a day from sunrise to sunset and the evening. A translation into the Yanyuwa language of families in Borroloola, NT is included at the back of the book. The Indi Kindi Early Literacy Project aims to assist young Aboriginal children in remote communities reach the basic levels in Australia's literacy benchmarks. With this aim in mind, Moriarty has produced these two books, Splosh for the billabong and Summer rain, with an emphasis on words and images found in these communities.
