Swimming on the Lawn

Level: Middle Years (6-9)
Life in Sudan in the 1960's is not so different from life here, with children going to school, attending the birth of their new cousin, and the funeral when an uncle dies. Cooking with mum, going on holidays, playing with their toys, sleeping outdoors when it gets too hot inside. But the tranquil life of the family is shattered when their father is arrested and taken away. With a growing sense of unease, the family packs a small suitcase and flees their home.
