The members of this Lighthouse keeper's family go about their lives on an island working, doing lessons looking after each other and maintaining the lighthouse. It is a different life in a time long ago but this lovely picture book portrays the beauty of a simple lifestyle and an important job in protecting those at sea. In a cold and wild storm there is warmth and refuge at the lighthouse keeper's cottage. The story is based on Montague Island lighthouse and quarters and the end papers are plans of these buildings.
