Introducing the new Mid-Year Intake Certificate
18 April 2024
Mid-Year Intake Certificate
In 2024, a new Mid-Year Intake (MYI) certificate has been added to the existing 14 Premier’s Reading Challenge awards. This certificate will only be awarded to students who commence Reception midyear and complete the Premier’s Reading Challenge.
Government Schools:
Data entry will remain the same as previous years.
However, both MYI and beginning year intake (BYI) reception students will now all be collectively categorised as one cohort – reception students.
The Premier’s Challenges team will differentiate MYI and BYI students by using students’ school enrolment dates when we extract to our database. This will enable the team to send appropriate certificates to new-start students.
Coordinators will not be required to differentiate reception students.
Non-Government Schools:
Data entry will remain relatively the same as previous years.
However, there will now be a new category to tick – MYI Reception students (see image below). Coordinators will choose this year level for those students currently in the MYI.
The Premier’s Challenges team will use this classification supplied by non-gov schools to differentiate MYI and BYI students and to send appropriate certificates to new-start students.
Mid-Year Intake Certificate
Adding this certificate to the awards ensures that the existing structure of certificates and medals is not compromised.
For example, the MYI certificate will be awarded to students completing their first 6 months of reception. In their next 12 months of reception, they will be awarded the same certificate as those students who enrol at the beginning of the school year. All students in this cohort will then continue to receive the same awards as they progress through the Premier’s Reading Challenge.
