Your Challenge

Welcome to the Premier’s Reading Challenge. This is your chance to enjoy reading 12 books in a year and to receive an award. If you keep going, you can earn all 14 awards by the time you finish high school.

The Challenge Guidelines explain what you need to do. Ask your teacher if you can get involved. You will read your books, fill in a student record and return it to your teacher. Then, sometime in November, your award will arrive at your school.

Completing the Challenge is something to be proud of – it’s quite an achievement reading those books each year!

Reception - Year 6 students

  1. Ask your teacher for a Student Reading Record.
  2. Talk about the PRC student guidelines with your teacher.
  3. Then choose your first book from your year level booklist. Of course you can choose a book from  a higher year level, but ask your teacher for advice. You can also choose a book that’s not on the list, but remember you must choose at least 8 of your 12 books from the reading list.
  4. Start reading – in class, at recess, at lunch, at home, in the park or anywhere!
  5. After reading each book, fill in your Student Reading Record  and get it signed by your teacher, teacher librarian, public librarian or parent/carer.
  6. Choose your next book!
  7. Keep reading until you’ve finished 12 books and then keep going. See how many books you can read!
  8. Talk about your books with your friends and suggest a few that they might enjoy too.
