2024 – The year that was!
13 February 2025
In 2024, an impressive 123,170 children and young people, constituting 48% of South Australian students, successfully completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge. With 97% of schools participating, collectively, they read over 1.47 million books. Congratulations to all participants for a remarkable year of reading!
2024 marked the 21st anniversary of the PRC in South Australia and the introduction of a mid-year intake (MYI) certificate. Students enrolled mid-year for reception were eligible to receive this award for their first 6 months of school. An amazing 4,289 students from 365 schools received this award.
The 2024 Premier’s Reception was a grand celebration on 20 November, honouring representatives from high-achieving schools for their outstanding performance in the 21st year of the Premier’s Reading Challenge. Out of the 55 schools chosen last year, 29 schools attended the event. Held at the Sanctuary, Adelaide Zoo, the celebration featured memorable performances, insightful speeches, and the unveiling of the 2025 PRC posters. Attendees received certificates and book-filled bags for their school libraries presented by the Hon Blair Boyer, Minister for Education, Training and Skills, met with PRC Ambassadors, and enjoyed the Zoo.
All PRC Coordinators should have received two reports attached to the PRC Welcome Email sent out to schools – the Participant award summary and the School summary results. You may find these useful to include in school reports and communications.
