Jared Thomas visits Cabra Dominican College
19 May 2025
On his visit to Cabra Dominican College, author and PRC Ambassador, Jared Thomas, shared excerpts from books in the Game Day series co-written with Patty Mills. He also read from his most recent Uncle Xbox series about surfing and soccer and encouraged students to keep reading and to participate in the PRC. Jared read sections from a novel he is currently working on which is based on his time spent playing for Port Adelaide.
From Charlie – Year 8:
Jared’s presentation was very engaging and informative about his amazing life and the awesome opportunities that he has been able to be a part of.
I learnt that he is an indigenous Australian author from Port Augusta and was brought up in the Aboriginal group called Nukunu.
Some books of his that I have read are the Game Day series with Patty Mills. I really enjoyed those books because of the stories that I learnt like that Patty Mills’s basketball career all started from him walking off the footy oval and throwing a footy into the ball bin with great form. There was a school basketball coach filling in coaching the footy team that day and asked him if he wanted to try basketball for the school team.
Once again it was a great presentation to be able to experience. Thanks Jared.
