Ash is a very shy, quiet, azure-winged magpie. Her story begins when she makes a new shirt for elephant from some beautiful red patterned material. Then she makes a dress for bear, an armchair cover for zebra and a number of things for her friends. Finally all Ash’s friends visit her to celebrate the things she has made. ‘They feel very loved and so does Ash.’ The unique illustrations are inspired by the author’s Chinese background. They are an ink wash painting technique using just three colours. Ash’s patterned material is a lovely vivid red.
